State Requires NEW Building Permits

The State of Illinois adopted a new Energy Code which mandates that the Village must now require building permits for all new and any replacements of water heaters, furnaces, air-conditioning units, and windows. Also, all new construction must include a radon mitigation system.

Permits Required

Building permits are required for certain types of construction in and around your home. This includes but is not limited to remodeling, room additions, pools, fences, patios, decks, gazebos, sprinkler systems, sheds, etc. Permits are required for roofing tear-offs. Inspections are required for most construction projects during and after completion to be certain that the work is following the Lake Barrington Municipal Code and that no damage has occurred to the roads and right-of-ways as a result of the construction project.
Please contact the Building Department at (847) 381-6010, ext. 105 if you have questions regarding whether or not your project requires a permit.
